The fireplace cabinet is in place. The panels on either side of the fireplace are operable, one set from the living room side and the other set from the dining room.

The void around the fireplace will eventually be filled with the same material as our countertops. It's called Fireslate and will be a matte black finish.
Detail of the reveal between cabinet panels. Those screws are decorative. The panels are routed out slightly at the inside bottom instead of using knobs or pulls.
