Roof Sheathing

They've started to put up the roof sheathing, and not a moment too soon. I jinxed us when I was talking about how we've been lucky enough not to have had rain during this whole construction process so far and sure enough, it drizzled on us yesterday.

Eaves

They are starting to install the structural blocking and bird-blocking (with vents) at the eaves.

West Elevation Fascia

The Fascia / Barge Board has been installed on the west elevation of the house.

Second Floor Ceiling Framing

View from the back of the house. Dugan said that if you stand in the attic (assuming there were windows) you can see downtown Seattle. Maybe that 3rd story will be in the future..

Ridge Beam

They put the ceiling joists and part of the ridge beam up yesterday and finished the wall framing for the second floor. Our shower unit for the master bath will be installed pretty soon.

Olympic Mountain View

Talk about a peekaboo view - that tiny triangular speck pointed out by the red arrow is, yes, our view of the snow capped Olympic Mountains from our bedroom window. Bonus.....
No really, it's there, you gotta look really close!

Elvis Lives!

Huh...Elvis was in our house. Apparently he's now a framer working in West Seattle. We found these shades with built-in sideburns on some wood upstairs.

Second Floor Framing

Second Floor Walls

The North Wall is up and all the interior walls have been framed! The side walls are taller because the roof slope is shallower at that portion of the house so that the it will look like a shed dormer. The whole intent was to keep the height of the house down so that it doesn't overpower the one-story houses on the block. With the higher plate height at the bulk of the house, it gives us the headroom we want while the front and back 2' portions of the house keep the roof steeper and the overall height of the house lower.

More Lumber

Looks like our deck joists are here (the white pretreated ones - I think...) and our siding (Hardiplank) I believe those are our ridge beams on top of the stack.

Deck Material

This is *I think* our railing top rails (the beveled pieces) and the underside (soffit) of our master bedroom deck (cedar T&G decking)

South Wall

The south wall of the second floor is up minus the 2' sections are either end of the house. It looked like the the north wall was mostly framed, just not tipped up yet.

Too Fast Too Furious

While we're taking pictures and looking at the house, Lola takes kamakaze dives down the grassy hill. She's always blurry in pictures, getting too fast for the camera to catch...

Dining Room Windows

Here are 3 of our existing Pella windows ganged together to form our new dining room window. They used to be our bedroom windows!

View from the Front Yard

Things are moving quickly. Dugan says that the roof should be up in 2 weeks and the house will be completely covered.

West Facade

The west face of the second floor is up! They still need to cut out part of that window on the left side - it'll be the stair window (about half way up the stairs). That's our master bedroom window and deck door on the right hand side.
